Jew-loving Russian leader Vladimir Putin has praised Israel as a Russian speaking country and that people who question the Jew-Soviet verison of World War II are bad goyim who must be punished.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Israel is a Russian-speaking state and that the two countries share a common history and extensive family ties.
Israel is home to the world’s largest population of Russian Jews, a large portion of whom emigrated there from the former Soviet Union in the 1990s. About 17% of Israel’s population is Russian-speaking, research has said.
“We consider Israel a Russian-speaking country,” Putin said Tuesday at the Keren Hayesod foundation’s annual conference in Moscow.
“Russians and Israelis have ties of family and friendship,” he said. “Our nations are united by common and often tragic pages in history.”
He noted that Russia has invited Israel’s leaders to Moscow to attend next year’s celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and highlighted the importance of teaching future generations about the war.
“The positions of Russia and Israel, the peoples of our countries, coincide. We consider any attempt to revise the outcome of the war, to distort the truth and justify fascism and its lapdogs, completely unacceptable.”
He often says that Israel has a special connection with Russia because of the fact that a large percentage of Israelis are of Soviet origin.
This stance gives away the racial hypocrisy of Putin. He has heaped praise on Israel for being a strong, ethnonationalist country, yet in his own nation, he fiercely prohibits criticism of Jews and ethnic minorities.
Over the past decade all of Russia’s ethnonationalist leaders were one by one railroaded into prison, prosecuted under the various hate speech and extremism laws instituted by Putin.
To win support among right-wingers, Putin has adopted some social conservative policies, such as banning homo propaganda to minors. This was done more so to placate and curtail his ethnonationalist and ultraconservative opposition within Russia than any true idealism on his part.
Overall, Putin adheres to a bland ideology of centrist Sovietism and economic pragmatism, following in the footsteps of his Soviet predecessors like Mikhail Gorbachev.
