Punishments should serve as deterrents to and consequences of commiting crimes. Thailand and Turkey have harsh sentences for drug crimes. Saudi Arabia has equally if not even more severe methods of dealing with crime. Not alot of stealing in Saudi Arabia. Perhaps our society should take copious notes. I’d suggest the revocation of welfare benefits for these scumbags that get caught. Athletes should lose their scholarships and be barred from entering any other university other than N.U.
