Topic: In this episode, I look at Hitler’s #1 foreign policy goal: Lebensraum, expanding Germany’s living space to the East. I demolish the natsoc myth that Hitler only wanted to reclaim territories lost after World War I. Extensive quotes from Mein Kampf, Hitler’s speeches to generals, and other sources unequivocally prove that Hitler was not satisfied with the pre-WWI (1914) German borders and sought to expand them eastward “by the sword” to create a contiguous land empire in Europe. In MK, Hitler identifies “Russia and its borderlands” as the fertile soil he wished to conquer, space he claimed was required to make Germany a world power once again, and that this would only be possible through war. Hitler declared Poles, Russians and all Slavs to be an “inferior race” who Germans had the right to rule and exploit. I also delve into German colonial policy in Ukraine in which Himmler led resettlement/colonization projects, moving tens of thousands of Ukrainians off their land and Germans in. After their land was usurped by German occupation authorities, tens of thousands of Ukrainians were shipped off to slave labour camps while some of their children were kidnapped for Himmler’s breeding programs. Nazi Germany used Ukrainian nationalists as cannon fodder to help them fight the Soviets only to betray them later when their usefulness expired.
